Ride Against the Traffic

The Road to Sofia

Alex, Rich & Rich are riding to help prevent modern slavery

In June this year Alex Bale, Rich Haydon and Rich Parsons are taking on the challenge of cycling from Varna to Sofia in Bulgaria. The aim is to do this in five days, riding some 80 miles each day for the near 400 mile route, with climbs totalling well over 20,000ft.

The trio will begin their journey at FSCI’s House of Opportunity in Varna. They will ride south to visit the House of Opportunity in Burgas, before riding through the mountains on their way to the Houses of Opportunity in Sofia (route below).

Please, will you sponsor Alex, Rich & Rich as they Ride Against the Traffic? The team’s expenses will be covered – every penny raised will help FSCI to prevent the trafficking and exploitation of vulnerable people.

We are delighted that, thanks to a generous FSCI supporter, any amount that you choose to donate will be matched, doubling your sponsorship! This will apply to the first £3,000 raised.

How will the money raised by Road to Sofia be used?

FSCI and its partners throughout Southeast Europe are currently concentrating on four main areas in line with our Vision & Mission.

Crisis Response

Working with Ukrainian refugees to ensure that the short-term catastrophe facing them does not turn into long-term exploitation of vulnerable children and families by criminals.

House of Opportunity Programme
Empowering vulnerable young people to break out of poverty and lead successful lives – preventing them from being trafficked, or drawn into a life of crime and homelessness, at risk of abandoning their own future children.

Early Years Education
Working with whole families and communities to open the door to education for marginalised children, greatly reducing their need to make desperate choices due to poverty later in life.

Way to Success
A programme designed to give young people the tools they will need to become successful adults. Delivered as part of the public school curriculum for teenagers.
